Over the last few months you may have seen me setting off for/returning from a run at lunchtime. This has been part of my training towards my first half marathon this coming Sunday, 22nd March. Until last year I had not run since school (too long ago to remember) but, through running, I am now fitter and familiar with all the roads and footpaths around Litlington and Bassingbourn as well as most of South Cambridgeshire. This is going to be a tough challenge for me. I have no specific time to complete the distance in, I just want to finish it, however long it takes!
I’ve decided to mark my first half marathon by fundraising for Parkinson's UK and the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund - charities close to family and too many friends. If you would like to support these charities please visit my fundraising page.
Thanks to my employer, Cresset, for allowing me extended lunchtime breaks to run (saving me running in the dark evenings) and to New Cambridge House for having showers. Without these I would not be where I am today with my training – fitter, sometimes in pain and now very nervous for Sunday!
